HOW WOULD YOU USE THIS GRANT TO HELP YOUR COMMUNITY?

This grant will allow us to accelerate realizing 2 goals: To continually create landscaping and gardening opportunities for students to earn the Presidential Volunteer Service Award and establish 2 self sustaining plant sales. We plan an annual spring Earth Day vegetable seedling sale followed a Texas Arbor day tree sale in the fall. A 16' x 20' greenhouse will raise enough seedlings to generate $3000 in sales. Cost $8000 The garden has 6 temporary beds. The grant would allow for ten beds at a cost of $400 each. Adding green spaces to campus is a priority. Our landscape is stark and the clay soil and dry weather make planting in berm and swale systems a good choice. Four 20 foot berms are planned at a cost of $1000 each. Past projects have been funded by $1500 line on the PTA budget and grants of about $3000 per year.
